Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Companionship Program

Form a new friendship with a senior who is eagerly awaiting your visit. All it takes is one hour per week for conversation, short walks, or other enjoyable activities.  Not only will it brighten the senior's life, it will make you feel great, too!  Training and support are provided.

Please contact Vicki Wedegaertner at 707-303-1532 or vickiw@jfcs.org.

JFCS Rides: Be the Wheels

Got wheels? A kind heart? All it takes to make a big difference in someone's life are about four hours a month.  As a Be the Wheels volunteer, you'll make a frail senior's life a lot more manageable, driving him or her to medical appointments, the grocery store, and other destinations he or she can no longer reach on his or her own anymore. Our network of drivers needs you! You can drive your car or the JFCS van (training provided).

Please contact Vicki Wedegaertner at 707-303-1532 or vickiw@jfcs.org.

Public Issues Committee

The JFCS Public Issues Committee reviews and takes action on public policy and legislative issues that affect Jewish Family and Children's Services and those we serve.  Members attend eight meeting throughout the year, hearing from public officials and participating in study sessions on policy issues. Committee members also participate in legislative visits to Sacramento. No experience required!

Please contact Diana Klein at 707-303-1503 or dianak@jfcs.org.

Administrative Support

We can't do it without you.  Assist program staff with answering phones, preparing newsletter mailings, and keeping in touch with the community.

Please contact Anita Whitehead at 707-571-8131 or anitaw@jfcs.org.
