Karen Friedland-Brown, MA

Director of Parents Place, Palo Alto

A child development specialist and longtime parent educator, Karen specializes in social and emotional development, temperament, discipline and limit-setting, school issues, peer relationships, parenting as a couple, co-parenting through divorce, raising only children, and parenting boys. Karen is the former director of the parent education and consultation program at the Children’s Health Council. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology, Karen has a master’s degree in educational psychology from Montclair State College. Beyond managing Parents Place programs and operations, Karen leads workshops, teaches parenting classes, and offers consultations to families seeking guidance on many issues.
