Bullying Prevention Program

By joining forces, educators and parents can prevent bullying in the school and address the needs of all children. Whether a child is using bullying behaviors, is being targeted, or is a bystander to bullying, it is damaging to children. Communities working together can ensure the emotional and physical well being of every child.

Our Bullying Prevention Program features Steps to Respect, an evidence-based bullying prevention program developed by the Committee for Children in Seattle for educators and parents of students grades 3 – 6. It includes tested methodologies for preventing bullying in the school and community; parent and teacher education and training; skill practice and coaching for students; school-wide policy development; and family awareness workshops.

Teacher Professional Development

We also offer professional development for teachers of elementary through high school students on relational aggression, cyber bullying, and strategies for creating a community of kindness and respect in school.

The training for teachers and administrators includes:

  • Half- or full-day programs that provide an overview of the bullying prevention program and staff training in the Steps to Respect methodology and implementation
  • Full-day programs that provide an overview of the Steps to Respect program, coaching, and curriculum orientation
  • Parent education workshops that include building a caring school and involved community (2 hours); relational aggression—how girls bully (2 hours); and cyber-bullying (2 hours).
